POCKETFUL OF REVIEWS

Pocketful of Reviews is a peer-review-network for performance arts.

Who is it for?
Emerging artists and makers, small scale productions, strange set ups, rural, remote and forgotten venues and for everyone who simply cannot get a reviewer to stop by.

Who is it not for?
Capital cities, established festivals & venues in locations where reporters and art critics are often seen.

In short, we review work that does not get reviewed otherwise.

NO STARS!
The reviews use a sliding scale system, which allows us to help artists find audiences who enjoy their type of work. Prefer narrative-driven work to experimental, or the other way around? We got you.

But still critical.
We believe reviews have to be critical, otherwise, what’s the point? But at the same time, with the kaleidoscope of performative ways, its difficult to assess work against each other. Hence, we ask every company to send us a short note about what they are aiming for, against which our reviewers assess the piece. Want to make a piece that bores the shit out of audience? Invite us, tell us, and we’ll understand – but in that case, don’t you dare to entertain us.

By artists, for artists.
The reviews are made by peers – artists, theatre-makers, writers. They are a subjective opinion, as is every other review or panel choice. We are not objective beings. But to balance this out, our reviewers also tell you a bit about themselves and their preferences.
